Fall Registration starts the end of July 2023
The new schedule for 2023-24 will be posted in July.
Class Descriptions:
Baby Ballerinas/Tutu Toddlers/Twinkle Toes/Princess Ballet/Fairytale Ballet: These pre-ballet classes are intended to introduce the world of dance to the very young, beginning dancer. Ballet positions and exercises are taught, along with beginner dance terminology. Dancers will begin to develop basic motor skills through dance combinations. Props will be used to keep students interested and excited for dance. This program encourages children to have fun with movement, rhythm, and creativity, while developing coordination, balance, flexibility, musicality and other basic dance steps and skills.
Ballet: Ballet is the
basic foundation of all dance forms. Lake Dance Steps places strong
emphasis on classical ballet training. While ballet is not required,
it is strongly recommended to build the proper alignment, posture and placement
that advanced dance technique requires. The class format emphasizes correct
development of both the technical and artistic elements of classical
ballet and is a clear reflection of pure traditional training.
Pre-pointe/Pointe: For students with previous ballet experience.
Pre-pointe/Pointe should be taken in addition to Ballet 4, 5, 6. The
class will concentrate on the development
of specific muscle groups needed for pointe work.
Jazz/Hip Hop Class: Jazz dance is energetic and
upbeat, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps, and quick
turns. Hip-Hop is the latest in popular street and video
moves put into combinations that are fun and exciting! Students work on
placement and technique while learning modern, funky, and contemporary jazz styles. The
class consists of a warm-up, floor progressions, and combinations. *Age-appropriate
choreography.
Starlettes: Introduces basic jazz dance steps with focus on movement, rhythm, coordination, flexibility, and fun dance combos. Students will also learn beginning tumbling skills.
Competition Dance: We are a 1st place winning national competition team! Dancers perform at recital and also compete at competition. Competition students must audition or be invited by the instructor. Competition dancers may participate in Jazz, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Lyrical or choose one style. All competition dancers must also enroll in Ballet. Auditions are held in the summer.
